Good afternoon golfers,
As you know I am away this week so just a short newsletter until my return.
The confidence of youth
How nice it was to see the British Masters return to our TV screens over the weekend. More than 57,000 spectators attended the event over the four days, and the crowds were treated to some top-class golf. If the numbers through the gates were impressive, how about the tournament winner? Matt Fitzpatrick, 21, completed a wire-to-wire victory in the kind of manner you'd expect from a player with twice the experience. He showed composure beyond his years, and two areas of his game stood out, particularly during the final round.
Firstly, his accuracy off the tee; he was by no means the longest, but he would prove true the old adage 'Driving is for show, putting is for dough'. In finding the fairway more often than not he let other areas of his game do the talking. He would have been forgiven for succumbing to the nerves down the stretch but time after time he holed clutch putts, and at pace, the ball hitting the back of the cup with authority.

Last week I told you about some big decisions I've made in relation to 2016. Next year will see the introduction of Under Armour to the store with the whole sports collection being available. I will have The Masters outfits of Jordan Spieth available to purchase in early April. Puma clothing will also make its debut with a lovely collection of grey, silver and bright tops on way to the shop. Glenmuir will continue to be my preferred supplier of GGC branded clothing into 2016. Next year promises to be an exciting time at Gourock pro shop!
