Next week I will be heading away to Lanzarote with the family for a well-earned break. John Hugh and Alec will be holding the fort while I'm away.

With our annual Trade Show taking place this week, I have decided not to go to Harrogate but have already made some big decisions for 2016. Next year will see the introduction of Under Armour to the store with the whole sports collection being available. I will have The Masters outfits of Jordan Spieth available to purchase in early April. Puma clothing will also make its debut with a lovely collection of grey, silver and bright tops on way to the shop. Glenmuir will continue to be my preferred supplier of GGC branded clothing into 2016.


 

Although Monday was pretty wet, the course is holding up well and the weekend saw lots of good scores and all the competitions were played in good overhead conditions. We are now officially using Preferred Lies with the full winter works on the greens not planned to start until Monday 26th. You should all get another few weeks of a good course.

I am delighted to announce that the captain has secured the speaking talents of Gordon Sherry for this year's Gents' Prizegiving, to be held on Saturday, 14 November. It would be great to see as many of 2015 prize winners at the event to collect your trophies. Further details of this event will follow next week.


 

We have had a busy few weeks at the Club, here is a catchup on the medal results.

In glorious sunshine we had the final Wednesday Stableford of September. The winner. with the points haul of the season. was Maurice McQuillan with 47, yes forty seven, stableford points. This had led to a massive reduction in handicap from 26 down to 21. 

Brian Campbell led the way in the Saturday October Medal with a gross 75 (nett 69) winning Section 1, the best gross score of the day was Gavin McDougall with 74. Section Two saw Paul Nichol win with a nett 68 and in Section Three had Richie Creighton tied with Craig McKellar on 69 also. 

On Monday we had the final event of the 2015 WS Hawthorne trophies. Winner on the day was John McDougall with 20 points - the overall winners will be announced very soon.
