Club News 

Stevie McGowan has finally got his name on the coveted Cameron Cup. After a few close defeats Stevie (pictured above) has won Section Three with a win over Euan MacGregor. Congratulations and another seat is taken for the prizegiving! 


Team News 

Our Muirshiel team have now played two fixtures this year and have made a solid start. Under the stewardship of Chris Mooney again this year, the guys are in position to challenge for the title. After two games they sit in second place, only one point behind Whinhill with the next round of fixtures taking place at Gourock.


My Tour Update 

I made my return to Tartan Tour action last week with a space at Ayr Belleisle in the annual Parkdean Charity Pro-Am. A course which is always in great condition throughout the year, I managed to find all the fairways and with the putter doing what it was told I scored 67. This four under round gave me a share of the lead for a while until a couple of pros scored -5 to leave me in second place. I was delighted with my round, it is amazing how good a score you can have with no bogeys on your card. 

This week I am heading to North Berwick to play in the qualifier for the Scottish Open at Gullane. This is a new event which has been backed by the Scottish Government and will give five players from the Tartan Tour a spot at Gullane in the Scottish Open.

In the next few weeks we have number of Open events on the calendar:

• Sat 11 Jul - Gents' Burgh Open - Entries are now open and can be made in the usual fashion
• Wed 15 Jul - Ladies Burgh Open - There are still spaces in the field for this
• Tue 21 Jul - Guintoli Junior Open -We are delighted to announce a new sponsor for this event - UNITED SPORTS USA
• Sun 9 Aug - Mixed Open - We still have a few spaces available
