Cameron Cup news
This week coming we have our matchplay championship taking place at GGC, with the qualifiers held on Saturday, the Cameron Cup signals the start of the season for the low handicappers at Gourock. The qualifier was held in tough conditions last weekend with a low entry mainly due to the constant heavy showers and storm like conditions. CSS on the day was 75. The leading scratch players in each section were Section 1 - Barry Hayes 77, Section 2 - Paul Carroll 80, Section 3 - Andrew Newman 92. Well done to all!
In addition to the CC qualifier, we also ran the PGA Lombard qualifying. The winner on the day with an excellent nett 70 was Paul Carroll. Paul has recently joined the club and now enters section one golf this weekend. We will now take part in the Scottish qualifier at Pollok GC in June, where I hope to better my joint first last year and get to Gleneagles for the national final.
James Braid Association
This week I am heading up to Blairgowrie with a group of members, taking advantage of the fabulous deal through the Braid Association makes visiting this mini-Augusta well worth the trip. I urge you all to try and take advantage of your Gourock Braid Membership and the three great courses at Blairgowrie or maybe include Crieff on your way up.

Junior Academy
We have started our Tuesday classes again this year, the attendance in weeks one and two has been fantastic and due to this we will now be splitting the classes into two. A beginner class will start at 6pm with the older boys and girls at 6.45pm. We will be writing to all parents as a group to explain these changes which are necessary to let us deliver quality coaching.
