We start the majors this weekend with the Cameron Cup Qualifier and Lombard. This competition always attracts a big entry with everyone looking to get their names on these famous trophies. Places on the start sheet will be keenly sought after so I expect a busy shop on Saturday.
The 2015 Lombard qualifier this weekend will see the leading nett score on the day win a place with me at Pollok in June. 2014 winner Jim Wall and I nearly made the grand final last year with a fine eight-under (losing on a card playoff) but I hope we can take the next step this year. Again the grand final will take place over four days at Gleneagles in September.
Last Saturday the T O Neill was played. This was an internal members competition the winners with a fine nett 66 were Craig Dunsmore and Andrew Howell.
Last week's Callaway Club Fitting event went really well with all eight appointments seeing gain on their current clubs and changes in ball flight. The orders have been placed and all of the guys will be looking forward to their new toys. If anyone would like to demo the new product or book in advance for the next Callaway fitting event.
As you all know I was away last week in Aberdeen to play Donald Trump's New Balmedie Links. Well what can I say?! Everyone must try and get to play this place, what Trump has done here is truly remarkably, to shape a championship course from the dunes at Balmedie is amazing. Every hole has its own individuality which makes it a special environment to play golf. I was lucky enough to be there on a lovely day which helped the experience but I think whatever the weather it would be an amazing place to be.
We start our Junior Classes again this week. Building on our success of 2014 and our Easter Camp, we hope to encourage these young boys and girls to be new junior members of GGC. Your patience is again appreciated during the time our classes are taking place.
Just a reminder that all members who use the Trolley Shed do so at their own risk. We have had a few trolleys going missing and then re-appearing some time later. I urge you all not to BORROW someone else's trolley if you happen to forget yours or the even just the battery. This is a recurring problem and now we have had a trolley disappear from slot 37 and has not re-appeared. If anyone has information on this please contact the pro shop.
Now we have been using the Online Booking System for a few weeks, I thought it would be time for a quick update:
If you haven't registered yet please do so ASAP to utilise the system
If you would like to book a time for a club tie further than nine days in advance please contact shop and we will do this for you
When booking a TIE please intimate this in one of the boxes
Please try to book all the time even for a bounce game as it helps to know exactly on the golf course
On a Wednesday if you are booking a bounce game please blank off the remaining boxes with an X to avoid any issues with members joining looking for a Medal time
