We welcome Callaway Golf to GGC on Thursday, 7 May for our first fitting event of 2015. As I go to press I only have two 30 minute slots remaining, if you would like to reserve one of these please get in touch ASAP either by phone or by clicking here. This is a great chance to spend some time with Euan Cameron (Callaway fitting rep) and see if he can add some distance to your game with the new XR range that is earning rave reviews all over Europe and America.
Do you wonder why your putts never reach the hole?
With you all returning to the grass and reasonably firm fairways it is the time to start concentrating on your putting. My tip is to concentrate on where you make contact with the ball. In order to produce some roll and top spin on the putt you must hit the back of the ball, as shown in photo this means below the R on the Star ball.
The contact you make with the ball must be perfect, as close to the back of the ball with your head remaining completely still. If the correct contact is made the ball will get to the intended target. Try this over the weekend and please give me some feedback
As we reach the end of April and the snow is still falling, I would like to give you some more info on our new PSI/Club systems match and handicap setup. We have been enduring some issues with the touch screen in the lounge and as I write we have found out that this is a nationwide problem and not solely at GGC. Club Systems are working on a solution and we hope to have more info on this next week.
The new BRS online booking system has been well received with more members using the system daily and getting comfortable with it. I urge anyone who has not registered yet to do quickly and get online and try the new system.
M&H are discussing some of the feedback we have had including the Tuesday/Thursday booking and the time intervals on a Saturday. Please bear with us as we strive to improve your experience.
As we build on our Easter Camp and the impending Tuesday junior nights, I would like to thank our new Clubgolf level 1 coaches for volunteering and attending the weekend courses. We go into 2015 with a new approach to junior golf which we hope will encourage more young boys and girls to join GGC.
With this in mind I would like to remind all members that every Tuesday starting on 12th May we will again take over the putting green/first hole and bunkers around the 18th and ninth green for pitching if the holes are quiet.
If you have a tie arranged for a Tuesday after 5:45pm please get in touch and I will organise your tee time.
With the shop now bursting at the seams with stock I am looking forward to supplying you with all your golfing needs. We have Callaway, Glenmuir and Galvin representing our clothing and Wilson Staff, Cleveland wedges and Callaway dominating the club areas. FootJoy and adidas continue to dominate the shoe market but very soon I will be bringing an innovative new company into the shop (more details on this next week). Please ask if there anything you require and would like to see in your professional shop. More on the above products can be found on my website http://www.derekwattersgolf.co.uk/
