Hello Golfers,

We hope you're playing well and enjoying the final pieces of our summer weather. The course is now showing signs of fatigue after what can only be described as record numbers playing daily on our course, your patience is appreciated as Hugh & his team begin winter works including slit tining of greens & fairway surfaces, PREFERRED LIES are now in play every day and as always I ask that everyone takes all their litter off the course and repair as many pitch marks on our greens as possible.

As I write my news we are all awaiting the 3 pm government announcement re the next steps of lockdown and with this, in mind, I have resorted to a counter service from my front shop door, this has been done to ensure the safety of myself & my staff. Access to purchase larger items can still be arranged with space now made inside the shop for you to come in, masks must be worn if invited into the shop, I will continue with card payment option preferred for all sales. Please be aware of others around you while waiting at the door and ensure safe social distancing around outside of the shop.

Thank You to everyone who attended my PING Club Fitting event on Wednesday, it was great to see so many of you enjoy trying out this fantastic new range of equipment.

When Sergio Garcia won The Masters in 2017, every headline was along the lines of ‘Finally!’. More than three years later, his win at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship marks his first win since and prompted many similar headlines. Although, did you know both victories involved Sergio putting with his eyes shut at impact?

On the European Tour, Tommy Fleetwood looked to cap the return of the big names at the Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, with a victory. But fellow Englishman Aaron Rai upset the odds to beat Fleetwood in a playoff that saw Tommy miss from a couple of feet at the first playoff hole.

The secret to a successful winter

Practice makes perfect, right? But perfect practise gets you there a lot faster. We've said it before - and we'll no doubt say it again - but winter provides the ideal opportunity to iron out some of those faults that have crept into your game.

It starts with a list

Begin by evaluating (out of ten) how close you are to your target for each area of your game. It's always best to be completely honest with yourself when doing this. In other words, forget about the odd time when you've hit a shot like Tiger and focus on what happens consistently round after round.

The path to better iron play
