This week's newsletter is packed full of stories as Major golf makes it return to our lives with the PGA Championship at Harding Park USA. Major golf is on all our thoughts at home as we crown our 2020 Men's Champion while this week supporting our juniors as they play in the Junior Championships on Thursday and our ladies reach the final stages as well. Last Saturday saw 52 players compete for the coveted Gent's Championship with Andrew Carmichael and Stephen O'Kane taking the early on-course lead, members were enjoying watching the score updates on the app, as the end of round one Steven Higgins was under par with John Jack Jnr and Stephen O'Kane in hot pursuit. Experience over the 36 holes would see it down to a two horse race heading into the back nine, Steven eventually sealing the win with a fine birdie on the 36th hole. Congratulations to our champion Steven on another fine performance and win. Winner of the Championship Raffle was Andrew Macpherson winning a dozen TaylorMade TP5X. On Sunday we were back at it with the MacGlashan Medal, a decent turnout of a 100 played on another day when our wonderful golf course again managed to survive an overnight deluge, great scores were recorded by Alec Watkins and Jim McNee. Good luck to all our juniors taking part on Thursday. A date for all your diaries - MONDAY 24th AUGUST sees Golf Clubs for Cash visit Gourock - a chance for you all to clear those old golf clubs you have had cluttering up the garage and make some money. Enjoy the read.
