This week's newsletter is packed full of news regarding the 2020 Club Championships. Last weekend Gourock's senior men played for the coveted Senior Championship over two days with holder Graham Aitken trying to defend, opening with a very good level par 73, in close pursuit past winner Colin Erskine was just one shot behind. In round two the players were again met by another night of heavy rain although the course was in good condition considering the volume of rainfall. Over the 36 holes Colin ran out winner with rounds of 74 and 77, closest challenger and clubhouse leader for a while was Jeff Tipling for his second round 74 to grab the runner-up spot on 152. This Saturday 50 men and two juniors will battle for the Gent's Championship over 36 holes in one day and we will know our 2020 Champion by early evening. Steven Higgins defends his crown with lots of new faces playing this year and the cut falling around the 9.1 mark. Remember everyone - No catering available at the club so bring your own and no caddies allowed.
On Thursday our juniors take centre stage with players competing in a number of different events John Jack Junior defends his 2019 win and they - 36 holes 18 and 9 for our ever growing younger crowd. Please give our boys and girls some space and courtesy if you are playing next Thursday. Our Ladies Championship is still at the knockout stages, once I know the finalists and time of final I will let you all know. No raffle last weekend but back to normal Saturday and Sunday this week.
Enjoy this week's read.
