What a competition we had developing throughout the day with the wind making fairways a bonus and birdies not easy to come by. Early pace-setters were defending champions Garrity, MacSwan, Newman & Mackenzie who were on the early birdie prowl and although the wind threatened to derail their defence a brilliant mid-morning the Beer & BBQ tent threatened to blow away, a quick decision to dismantle and move the festivities indoor was made, thanks to David McGinley & Owen McDade for their assistance. Now the full field-was on course and the expected early afternoon rain had failed to materialise, the gin bar was getting busier and the wind was slightly receding the holders had now posted 100 strokes which was matched very soon in the day by regular visitors to Pro’s Day and guests of past captain Alan Knox, Mark De Looze and his pals from Kilmarnock Barassie we’re joined by Farley O'Donnell to also score 100, but the holders had pulled them on BIH. We were down the final few games out on course and team MacPherson led by the ever-reliable Jake had a chance and were scoring well, Mr Trumble was utilising his strokes and the team almost did falling just short and now into 3rd place. The challengers were now the Euan’s Cause team led by Robert Clark who were playing well and still relatively sober. Ross McDermid & Bobby Davis were playing well with guest Barry Hayes in sparkling form, eventually making lots of birdies the team got round in 97 strokes to take the trophy. Well done to my 2019 Champions!
