Welcome to this week's newsletter bringing you the latest news from around the club, a report from the Mixed Open and who the form man is at the club. Enjoy the read. |
Past-Captain is the form man! David Burnie has been setting the heather alight over the last week with scores and a few leaderboard finishes. Scoring 47 points in last Wednesday Medal was the catalyst which led to a huge cut down to 16:5 followed by a leaderboard finish in the T O Neill on Saturday. To put the icing on the cake an eagle two in Robert MacDonald Succession Wealth Golf Day at the 18th to also take the winner's trophy.
So the question is how did this happen? Well, retirement and time to play more bounce games, add in a course of lessons and a PING fitting which has resulted in a whole new bag of clubs, more lessons and finally the purchase of a new PING G410 driver just last week, and hey presto!

Gourock Mixed Open Greensome 2019
With 18 different golf clubs represented at the Gourock Mixed Open Competition, 112 players competed for the Robert and Marion Rice Trophy on Sunday 11th August 2019. Having had (mostly) quite beautiful weather in recent weeks, the weather in August had become very changeable, and even the Met Office found it hard to keep up with its fickleness. However, the players valiantly, and in good humour, coped well with the cloudy and drizzly conditions with the visitors very much enjoying Gourock’s usual warm hospitality extended to them by the Club Members. Fortunately, because of the beautiful season so far, the course was playing well and there was a very happy ambience within the Clubhouse afterwards. Hugh Logue and his team of Greenkeepers are to be congratulated for the conditions out on the course despite the disappointing weather, and grateful thanks are extended to Ashleigh, Stephen and the Kitchen and Bar Staff, for keeping the players ‘fed and watered’ so professionally throughout the day.

It's not always easy to get in the zone or feel completely comfortable over the ball so, when you do, the last thing you need is to look down and be distracted by your shoes. Style always comes down to individual taste, but here are two shoes that catch our eye for different reasons. |
| Puma PWRAdapt | Rickie Fowler likes to make a statement and you can too with the ultra-modern looking PWRAdapt shoe, which features a performance mesh and PWRFrame visible at address for a louder look. |
| Puma Ignite NXT | The Ignite NXT also boasts a waterproof performance mesh and PWRFrame, but comes in a more trainer-like look and with a spikeless outsole. |

We have an extensive range of golf shoes available in-store with styles, colours and designs to match everyone's taste. So, be sure to pop in and try on a pair or two for size the next time you're in the market for new shoes.
