Molly’s Fund

On Sunday Helen Gunn and her team including the Craigs, Gibson & Johnson host our second Ladies Day with all proceeds going to Molly’s Fund. Molly is the wee sister of Daragh Cuddihy whilst she fights bone cancer and to help her achieve her goal of summer school at Oxford University.

I have one extra special auction prize which I would like to make available NOW until Sunday afternoon: a 4 ball at Dundonald Links.

Course news

Let's all do our part!

Our star attraction, the golf course, continues to amaze this winter with the greens and fairways in particularly good condition. As we edge closer to the playing season I urge everyone to take careful consideration and please repair your own pitch-marks and if possible more that you see.

One very important issue and extremely disappointing is the members who keep removing the hoops around some of our greens and tees. On Saturday our Greens convener was extremely dismayed to find on arrival at the 13th hole that a member out pre-10.30am felt the need to lift the hoops to walk straight through with his trolley and then even worse take it on the green.

The hoops are there to protect our greens approaches, please don’t move them to shorten your walk or use the other option of a half set in a small carry bag.

Tour news

Age is just a number

Keith Mitchell stole the headlines on Sunday evening after claiming a one-shot victory at the Honda Classic, pipping fellow American heavyweights Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka to the title.

But before the final day's play, it was former World Number One and veteran PGA Tour golfer Vijay Singh who threatened to rewrite history. Singh shot a sublime five-under-par 65 on Saturday to begin Sunday a solitary shot behind overnight leader Wyndham Clark.

A victory would have seen Vijay dethrone Sam Snead as the oldest winner of a PGA Tour event, however a level-par round comprising of four bogeys and four birdies was only good enough for a T6 finish. That left Mitchell, Fowler and Koepka to duke it out on the back-nine, with 27-year-old Kevin Mitchell calmly sinking a 15-foot pressure putt on the 18th for his first PGA Tour victory.
