The Ryder Cup is nearly here! The most eagerly awaited team competition in world golf is about to hit our shores, with the players and entourage now arriving in bonnie Scotland. Let's hope this great event goes well and by sunday afternoon we are all celebrating a resounding Europe victory.
For all those who have tickets and are lucky enough to be going, enjoy yourself and if you are going to be there on day 1&2 I hope to bump into you.
If you are there or watching on Saturday morning then please lookout for myself and junior champion Daragh Cuddihy. We are scheduled to be working in the first fourball game off the tee. Daragh has been nominated to be a carry-board holder and we will be lucky enough to be walking very close to the players and getting the full Ryder Cup experience. Pictures will follow from our Gleneagles experience.
This week has seen our Gents' Firth of Clyde team win the league with a victory over Largs last weekend. Well done to all the guys who have played their part.
Sunday was a busy day at the club with the Ladies hosting their annual Pink Flag competition. This event raised funds in the memory of Lesley Stevenson, a huge sum was raised and everyone had a great day.
This Tuesday the club is hosting the
west central region BIGGA. This group of head gree keepers and course staff will be enjoying our fabulous course on a lovely afternoon.
Our
Summer SALE continues to go well with the sale rail and hardware stand both becoming increasingly empty. Lots of drivers have been sold and there are only a few left so get into store quick to grab that end of season bargain.
Callaway's new V series range is about to appear instore. With the classic warbird sole and hot face this new range of drivers and fairways will be a hit. Ask Derek for more details.
Adidas' new autumn/winter Gore range is about to hit the shop very soon also, with a mix of windtops and waterproofs tops and jackets in a variety of colours.
The 2014 Galvin Green winter collection is on way as we speak, pop in to see this amazing new collection.
This week I head to London to play in the Srixon/Clevleand invitational. Taking place this year at the Grove I am hoping to try and improve on my second and third place finishes in last few years.
Saturday's stableford was won by C Gibson with a fantasic 41 points. In Section one, Mel Mcmillan and Joe Gillan were joint first with 39 points each, one point ahead of Ricky Thompson in third. C Gibson won Section two by two points from I Finlay in second, with J Tolan taking third with 37 points.
S Rafferty won the top prize in the raffle and takes home £40. Dr B Thompson takes home £30, S Foster pockets £20 whilst K Meechan and J Wright collect £10 and £5 each, respectively.
