Maureen's Silver Line
We now know all our 2018 Champions after Saturday's fabulous performances. Before we speak of the Gents 36 hole event let's concentrate on another brilliant win for Maureen Woodhead. A fine win in a closely contested match versus Emma Boyd. The usual big crowd followed the match refereed by John McDougall and afterwards Maureen shocked the clubhouse by officially retiring from our Club Championship after this her 25th win! An emotional Maureen had carefully prepared this shock announcement and left the clubhouse stunned. Personally, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Maureen on this milestone which I doubt will ever be matched by any amateur golfer in Scotland.
In the gents, a field of 44 teed it up on Saturday 36 hole event with 2017 champ Josh Greer unavailable due to injury. Early clubhouse leader was Fraser Mckillop with a solid 73 in very tough conditions, but past champion Steven Higgins in the last game soon matched this score and off into the afternoon round the players went. Early reports were that Graham Minton was setting the front 9 alight with a brilliant -3 score. |
