Congratulations to Rory on a fantastic performance at Hoylake - he is a true champion who I am sure will win many more majors.
On a different note, I was sad to hear about the passing of my old friend Bob Torrance. Bob was a true gent who has helped many young pros along their way. When I was doing my training at Largs, Bob was always willing to pass on a few tips, throw me a few Pro V1s and let me watch Padraig or Paul McGinley hit some practice balls. A little thought to leave with you re Bob, who will be laid to rest this Thursday in Greenock -The term he used with regard to modern video equipment etc was:
"The truth of your shot will always lie in the dirt"

Congratulations to Lady Captain Margie Carmichael who has reached this year's 2014 final. She will now play Champion Maureen in the Final on 2nd August - Best of luck to both competitors!
The Junior Championship takes place this Monday, 28th July. Good luck to all of the boys who are competing.
We are now entering the penultimate week of our very successful Junior Academy Evenings! These events have been amazingly well attended, with numbers between 18 & 42 people attending. With the last week coming up on 29th July, I urge all the parents to bring their boys & girls up to club to take part.
We are also hosting our annual Family Fun night this Saturday, commencing at 5.30pm. There will be a host of fun competitions and events, all are welcome.
I travelled north on Saturday to play Montrose Pro-am. The course, which is over 450 years old, was in marvellous condition and even although we played in heavy rain and thunder/lightning , it was a great day out.
Sunday meant a shorter journey to Bothwell Castle where I was met with a lovely sunny day and shot 73 around a much changed track this year. A little reminder to all members of Gourock about our twinning arrangement with Bothwell. If anyone would like the opportunity to play this beautiful flat course host of the Scottish boys under 14 soon please contact me and I will arrange it for you.
