Snow Time
The last week has seen the course being dominated by snow and ice which did lead to some amazing views on Friday and Saturday, but unfortunately no golf.
I am happy to report that we have now re-opened and the week has started with warm temperatures and good golfing conditions. On Sunday the winter league guys got back to playing and I am happy to report a winter hole in one by Garry Elder at the 17th. Well done Garry!
As we prepare for all the new stock arriving, it has become very interesting to watch the European Tour and US PGA Tour to see what's in everyone's bag - Rory is using Callaway's new Epic driver and Apex blades, as well as the new Odyssey O-Works putter. Justin Thomas using Titleist's 917D3 driver and irons Dustin Johnson with his new 2017 M1 TaylorMade driver.
Over the next few weeks we will see all worlds' best players try all their new equipment and very soon these will all be available at Gourock GC.
After Saturday's cancellation the annual match has been rearranged for Saturday 11th February. Thanks to captain's Jake Macpherson and Ian Samuel for organising.
- Our Annual Burns Supper is on Saturday, 28th January, and is a sell-out. Please arrange to pay your deposits ASAP or risk losing your seat.
- Valentine's weekend will see Chef Adrian put on a special menu, please book early to avoid disappointment and keep your wives or girlfriends happy.
The heavy drainage works on the 18th continue this week, please be aware of the staff whilst playing the hole this week.
Works have began on course in regard to trimming and clearing some trees and branches. Please treat these piles as GUR and take relief at the nearest point no nearer the hole.
Our new putting green is looking excellent and knitting together well. As the month progresses we will be top dressing rolling and cutting this new area.
