The Best Yet
At last we played for the prestigious Pro's Day Shield and on its 10th year we produced a fantastic day that everyone seemed to enjoy. 32 teams took their place in the shotgun event and after an afternoon of misty damp conditions our winners emerged with a brilliant 58.6.
We had the first ever hole in one in Gourock Pro's Day history - Tommy Donald producing a wonder shot at the 4th hole. Well done Toots.
The winners on the day were captained by Lord R.T. Rice with his team consisting of David McAuslan/Brian Campbell & Bill Goodwin. Their 58.6 was just enough to pip Matt Chamberlain- Robert Marshall- Finlay Campbell & Ryan Docherty on 59.3.
Picture of the day must go to these guys for their imaginative use of camera as well as the Prize for best dressed team, which went to the babies team including Jack McGhee-Ross McIlravey- Jack Broadley & Greg Chamberlain.
In the raffle Roddy McNelis was the main winner taking home a lovely new set of Wilson Staff C200 irons and a Wilson holdall full of goodies.
Again I would like to publicly thank everyone for their support this year and at the weekend. It was a brilliant way to end the summer season at GGC.
Trump Turnberry
In the last week I have been lucky enough to get my first game around the new Turnberry Championship Links- well what can I say apart from WOW - the changes have made a good course a brilliant track which all levels of golfers can enjoy, add in: the amazing views, more tees closer to the sea, and possibly the best halfway house you will ever spend time in, and you have the complete package. While I was there the members I played with told me that in 2017 the rate for a round will be £350.
