Following last weekend's complete washout, we will be playing the 2016 Burgh Open again this Saturday. As before, your tee times are the same, so if you are unable to play or are looking for a time please contact the shop prior to the weekend.
Due to some heavy morning showers, the Ladies Burgh Trophy was abandoned. This event will now take place next Wednesday.
Our Gents' Stableford will take place around this rearranged event with morning and afternoon start times available.
Prior to The Open I attended a Callaway press and media launch event this Monday evening at Ibrox. The Callaway Staff players were teamed with 10 Rangers players, including the manager and David Weir, each getting two penalties and two shots at the centre circle from a stage in the main stand. All the Callaway players were in relaxed mood and enjoyed a different event to what they normally attend. Being lucky enough to be on the guest list, taking my eldest son was a treat. We were able to see Masters Champion Danny Willett, Henrik Stenson, Marc Warren, James Morrison, Haydn Porteous and Branden Grace. Thanks again to Callaway Golf Europe for the invite.
On Tuesday I headed down to Troon to have a look around the course and venue. With the last few weeks seeing a lot of rain, the course is looking very green and soft, playing right into the hands of the Americans. In my opinion, Jason Day's (pictured below on the 17th tee) yardage off the tee and super ball striking will see him in the top five come Sunday. My other predictions are Stenson, Lowry, Westwood and Matsuyama.
My SALE on bags continues while stocks last. Also, throughout July all Glenmuir & Callaway Apparel stock will also have 25 % discount.
