Scotland to the fore
The following few weeks sees our own fair isle take centre stage in the golfing world. We start with the Aberdeen Asset Scottish Open at Castle Stuart and continue on to the British Open a few miles down the road at Troon. The week after we see the ladies ad seniors take prime place in Scotland with the ladies competing at Dundonald for their Scottish Open and the Senior British Open being held at Carnoustie. If ever you wanted to see the best players in the world play golf, NOW is the time.
Is it the 'Big Three' or the 'Big Four'?
Just when you thought Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy were all set to divvy up golf's biggest prizes, along comes big-hitting Dustin Johnson. The US champion is now number two in the world and looks to be finally fulfilling his potential after another fine win at the weekend - and a big one too at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. For years Johnson seemed destined to be the bridesmaid, now he's one of the favourites to go back-to-back in Majors and take the Claret Jug back across the Atlantic.
Next week's Open at Royal Troon could be a classic
Which leads us on to a new section of our website - our regular poll, and we want your votes. Tell us who you think will win the Open Championship next week; will it be Day, Johnson, Spieth, McIlroy or A.N. Other?

Family Fun Day
This Sunday we are hosting our first Family Fun Day for many years. Allan Warwick and his sub-committee have been working very hard to plan what should be a great community event. The festivities are due to start at 12:30pm and we are expecting a large turnout from members and friends. If anyone can either spare an hour to help the army of volunteers please get in touch here, or if not we are looking for donations, especially to the bottle stall in clubhouse.
A reminder that as part of this day there is a fun 9-hole Stableford event open to members and visitors with play reduced on the 18th hole to a green around the third bunker. Please book through professional shop. Also, no play is possible on holes 1 and 9, therefore ties will be not possible all day.
Burgh Opens at Gourock
We are hosting both ladies and gents events in the next week. First up is the men on Saturday with an almost full card - as I go to print there are only seven spaces left in the draw sheet with the final game confirmed as 2:10pm. The annual ladies event is next Wednesday with a busy day ahead for Norma and her team. As always there will be no play until 3pm.
Callaway pre-Open event
On Monday night I will be attending Callaway's press and professional media evening. Last year I was lucky enough to get the chance to meet Henrik Stenson and our new Masters champion Danny Willett at St Andrews, but this year a bit closer to home - at Ibrox. With many activities planned and the opportunity to meet not only the top eight of the Callaway stable, but also some of the Rangers FC players, it promises to be a fantastic night. Rumour has it Danny Willett will be wearing his Green Jacket - pictures will follow next week.
Last week's bag special certainly drove many of you towards the shop to take advantage of some bargains. I will continue this offer of 20% OFF all in-stock bags until the weekend. I also have some brilliant discounts on selected clothing, including Glenmuir.
The last few days have been spent doing a summer revamp of the shop floor, keeping you guys on your toes and adding some new stock to the shelves - mainly including a new waterproof collection from ProQuip with suits from £149.
