Inverclyde Champion of Champions
The ladies event was last week with Maureen Woodhead coming up against Greenock champion Linda McDougall. With both ladies experienced playing against one another, it was a close match with Linda leading for a while before Maureen, with home advantage, took the lead and eventually ran out the winner. Well done, Maureen.

Clubhouse Works
This week has seen the major window refurbishment continue. All the front windows have been replaced and today work was starting on the new front door. The views from the new windows are spectacular and really enhance our already amazing upstairs clubhouse. Thank you to all members for their patience whilst the works have been going on.
REACH Autism
On Sunday, a couple of Gourock teams headed to Port Glasgow to support and play in this annual charity event. We were greeted by a roasting hot day and the course in excellent condition although our own greens at Gourock are remarkably quicker. My team with Barry Hayes-Robert Clark & Andy Samuel managed to shoot an amazing 14-under-par 54. With our handicap of 1.2 getting us down to 52.8, we ended up winning the event by 0.1. A fantastic £4970 was raised, well done to Evan Conway for all his organisation.
Tartan Tour
My travels last week saw me play in the annual Cawder Pro-Am. This is one of my favourite competitions of the year and having won the event in 2009 and an assistants' event round the course, I always relish a return. I scored a very respectable level-par 70 with another round featuring only 28 putts, this kept me in the top 10 and my team finished 5th in the team event.
On Tuesday I was at Strathaven. The course was in excellent condition with large areas completely burnt after the extremely good sunny weather we have experienced. The course played very different from previous years and it took me a few holes to get to grips with the speed. After dropping shots on the front nine, I managed a few birdies to get back on track before a late bogey at 15 saw me end up three-over-par and in the top 20.
Next week sees Gordon Mckillop and I head to Cawder to compete in the regional qualifier for the Lombard Trophy. Let's hope Gordon continues his fine form and we can win.
Following this I compete in the Northern Open being held at Royal Dornoch. Dornoch are in their 400th year and are hosting this major event on the Tartan Tour. I will be heading up the A9 on Monday, 20 June to play hopefully all four rounds.
