Section 1 - C.Mooney vs C.Watson; A.Boffey vs R.Clark
Section 2 - G.McKillop vs D.Lindsay; D.Slack vs R.McNelis
Section 3 - F.Campbell vs R.Boyle; D.McPaul vs M.Keenan
Good luck to all competitors for the rest of the week.
Inverclyde Champion of Champions
It is Gourock's turn to host this event in 2016, with champions from all Inverclyde clubs taking their place to become Inverclyde's Champion of Champions. The great news is that along with our 2015 champions Stephen Murray, Daragh Cuddihy & Maureen Woodhead, our men's 2015 winner John Greer is making the long journey home from Australia to represent the club. This is great news and we wish all the champions the best of luck in their finals this Sunday.
The putting green (pictured here) has now got a great coverage of grass and work continues to keep it up to speed with the greens on the course. New flags and pins as pictured also add a nice fresh touch to the surface.
The course is looking fantastic after last week's deluge of rain. With sunshine arriving on Sunday and warm temperatures forecast for the week ahead, it is a busy week of cutting and preparing for the greenkeepers.
Tartan Tour
My 2016 debut on the Pro-Am circuit was a three-over-par round, seeing me finish in a tie for 13th place. A lot of good shots but I struggled on the greens, 35 putts saw me miss the top 10 by just one shot. I did take great encouragement from beating Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance by a single shot though! This week I have an invite to play in a Pro-Am at West Lothian GC - I will head there on Friday to compete once more.
What's in the bag
One of the things I constantly get asked is what equipment I use, well here it goes. For the 2016 season I have a mix of Callaway, Cobra, Cleveland and TaylorMade equipment, but this week I am going to focus on the woods.
Callaway Big Bertha Alpha driver - This model is from 2015 but I love the look of the club and the accuracy I get from the shaft and loft combination. People never believe this, but I do use my driver at 11.5 degrees of loft. This setting suits my low-launch swing and copies the settings I utilised on my first ever driver which was a Hawkeye 11 degree.
Cobra King F6 fairway woods - I have a 16-degree 4-wood in the bag. This loft gives me great options from both the fairway and off the tee.
Cleveland 20.5 hybrid - This club has been in my bag for four years now and I just can't part with it. Built on the Tour Truck by Cleveland Fitter Ian Steel, this club lets me hit any shape of shot I want out of whatever lie I end up in.
Next week I will look at my irons and wedges.
