Hello golfer,
Well what a spell of weather we are experiencing at present. High temperatures and warm sunshine, although the wind has played havoc at the higher points of the course these last few days. It has been great to see the course evolve with lots of work continuing on the fairways, and the greens getting back up to speed. Enjoy your golf this weekend.
We are now two weeks into our 2016 academy with 49 kids signed up to take part. Tuesday nights have never been so busy at the club and it's great to see so many young kids about. A huge thanks to Ian McNaughton and his junior committee/coaches who are all giving up their valuable time to volunteer. We have some budding young stars in the making and it's going to be brilliant to see their talents evolve this season.
It has been great to see John Leith back behind the desk this week. After his 11-day stay in hospital he is back ordering me about and controlling the first tee. Thanks to all who sent get well messages.
The Golf Club were involved at this weekend's Gourock Highland Games event at Battery Park. In partnership with Gourock Community Sports Hub, we offered golf to all those who would like to try. Our stall was extremely very busy I would like to thank all those who have volunteered to help.
Our senior team started their league campaign on Tuesday with an away fixture against Skelmorlie. Captain Chris has assembled a very strong squad for this year's games, and they were able to record a very impressive 4-2 win. Well done, guys.

With only one week to go until I make my competitive debut on this year's Tartan Tour, I am heading to another James Braid masterpiece, Blairgowrie, to prepare. These three fabulous courses are always in fantastic condition and a pleasure to play anytime of the year. I am away Thursday & Friday with Largs GC on the horizon on the 20th May. This year Largs celebrate their 125 anniversary and it is a honour to recover an invite to play in their anniversary Pro-Am.
