9 years and counting
I am writing the content for this week's newsletter as I celebrate my 9th anniversary as Professional at Gourock. Well what a journey it's been from the first two months of sunshine that greeted my arrival to the depression of the fire in 09 that gutted my shop. It's been some journey; my two youngest children Euan & Jamie have arrived and for the last two seasons it feels that it hasn't stopped raining. All I can say is a huge thank you to all of the membership for their support during the last nine years and that I am looking forward to seeing what the future brings.
To celebrate my anniversary weekend I will be offering the following special deals in-store this week until Saturday, 8 April.
20% OFF all golf bags
20% OFF all Wilson clubs and balls
20% OFF all Callaway clothing
20% OFF Cobra product
All of these are available to members and visitors with cash or credit/debit card. Accounts cannot be used in conjunction with these anniversary specials.
What's new this week?
Under Armour apparel has arrived and has already started to sell well.
My first collection of Under Armour stock has made a very good impression with quite a few items already taken off the shelf. Please have a look as there may be something you like - a new pair of trousers or a new polo to start the season.
After a wet weekend the greenstaff are hard at work to get the course ready for Saturday. The remedial work at the approach to 18 is almost complete with new turf and a new drain put into the ground. The tees have been cut and fed in further preparation for use. Our next Greens sub-committee meeting is being held on 5th April where we will discuss all of our plans for 2016.
Our season opener, the All Members Scramble, takes place this Saturday. There are 39 teams already registered to play, I am hoping that the weather plays it part and we get the season off to a flyer. On Sunday the ladies have their annual invitational event, this is a mixed event which is a fun way to start the year. Times are available from 12:30pm.
The final date for entering the Club Matchplay competitions is almost upon us (3rd April), please try and get your names in ASAP. Here are the competitions open for entry:
Congratulations to Ricky Thompson who has won the Thom Bateman shield for the Saturday winter Stableford. Due to no play last Saturday, the standings from 19th March were the final results. This saw Ricky finish top on a 227 total, with Jake McPherson and Gordon Crae both following on 216.
