In this week's newsletter we get our first signs of Spring at Gourock, club knockouts become available to enter and new stock starts flying off the shelves. Enjoy the read.
What a difference a few weeks make as Spring arrives on our doorstep. The greens are being cut, rolled and ironed; the bunkers have been cleared and the summer tees are being prepared for the season (pictured here).
Yesterday the greenstaff began to top dress all of the greens this work should be completed by Thursday afternoon. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come and we will all enjoy a fine Summer.
The shop is starting to fill up very quickly with deliveries arriving daily. My first drop of Puma shoes and clothing has arrived and so far it has been very well received with quite a few polo shirts finding their way off the shelf. Rickie Fowler will be wearing one of the shirts on the first day of the Masters, too. By the time the weekend arrives, the new range of 2016 Callaway hardware will have arrived. This innovative and exciting range will be available to demo very soon. Odyssey's new updated range of putters are due to arrive in early April.
Entries are now open for all of the Gents Matchplay competitions, envelopes are available from the bar. All entries should be put into the box in members' lounge by 3rd April 2016. Here at the knockouts available to enter:
Tipping and Turner (Singles)
Currie Cup (Foursomes)
A.P. Jess (4BBB)
Muir Salver (Mixed Foursomes)
On Saturday the online booking system will be live from 7am for everyone to pre-book their times for the All Members Scramble on 2nd April.
The fight for the Thom Bateman Shield only has a few weeks left and Ricky Thompson (227 points) has forged ahead of Jake McPherson and Gordon Crae (both 216 points), leading by 11 points. We have two weeks left of this winter competition, good luck to all.
Ending soon: collect your FREE grip
Playing with worn and shiny grips makes it difficult to produce a fluid and reliable swing - which leads to mishits and inconsistent ball-striking. Come and collect your FREE Golf Pride grip in store and we’ll re-grip your favourite iron. You’ll feel the difference immediately. Hurry, time is running out!
