This Winter has been so poor and the number of rounds played has decreased, but we still have a battle on our hands for both the Sam Esler & Thom Bateman Stableford. The updated leaderboards below show the fight for top dog is very close.
Ricky Thompson leads the Stableford with past winners McVean and MacPherson hot on his heels. New pairing McGregor & McAuslan lead the way in the Sam Esler. With only a few weeks left, let's hope all of the winter leaguers get some decent Saturdays so they can get some scores submitted. Good luck!
Race to Dundonald - With the last two Sundays being a complete wash out, we still haven't had another round of my new Winter competition. We will try again this weekend in the hope that overhead we get a nice day. As I write this week's news we are experiencing some Winter sunshine, although frost is forecast for the weekend - let's wait and see.
This week I have finally managed to make it down to the Ayrshire area to play some links golf and what a fright I got! Typically 45 minutes in the car can usually guarantee dry links golf but what a shock I got on Monday morning at Open qualifier Glasgow Gailes. I was playing in a PGA Fourball event and on arrival we were met with rain, puddles and bunkers full of water. It was quite amazing to see this sandy links so wet, full fairways were covered in large puddles with almost every bunker full of stagnant water. Although it was great to get out for a game it was a reality shock to see just how wet it actually was, speaking to fellow professionals it was a common theme - rain, wind and more rain. Let's hope the next few weeks bring some dry weather. The only footwear required is wellies which were expertly demonstrated at the weekend by this hidden member, does anyone know the identity?
This weekend I have enjoyed some family time as my kids had their mid-term break. With the season only a few weeks away and the longer hours about to commence, it was great to have a couple of days off. We managed to get along to Glasgow Science Centre and enjoy all they have to offer, what is startling to me as a parent is that my kids will grow up in a much more advanced world than me!
The shop is undergoing its pre-season change and we are all ready and waiting for the 2016 stock to arrive. With Callaway, Odyssey, Wilson Staff , Cobra and Benross hardware all about to arrive it certainly is exciting times. On the clothing front, new to the shop this year will be Puma, Under Armour and the old favourite Glenmuir. Over the coming weeks I will keep you all updated as the new kit arrives. Keep an eye out!
