We received a heavy deluge of snow over the weekend and as I sit writing this, the only use of the golf course will be the local community sledging down the 10th. After a couple of days of heavy frost that preceded the snowfall, it was a dry and solid surface that met the Saturday morning golfers. It will therefore take a while for the snow and frost to disappear. This was the picture just as the snow started to get heavy on Saturday.
Due to the snow, the PGA Fourball event I was scheduled to play in on Monday was postponed. The frost and snow reached the Ayrshire links and has kept many of the coastal courses closed for the past few days. It will be a few weeks before I play again in this rescheduled event.
My focus this week switches towards my 2016 stock. There are lots of products about to arrive in the coming weeks, including the re-introduction of Cobra as a hardware partner along with Callaway and Wilson Staff. Puma, Callaway, Glenmuir and Under Armour will be my apparel brands for the forthcoming year as well.
On Tuesday I will be at Puma HQ to see their Autumn/Winter offering, and last week I visited the Under Armour showroom where I was able to see all the clothing choices I made many months ago. A collection of Jordan Spieth outfits will be available for both the Masters and the British Open. If you want to look like the best in the world then make sure you keep an eye on my newsletter to find out when these outfits will arrive. With prices ranging from just £29.99 for polo shirts, it is a fantastic brand and I can't wait to have it at Gourock GC.
Our annual Burns Supper is nearing and with a full house now confirmed it promises to be a great evening. A reminder to all those attending, please arrive at 6:45pm as dinner will start at 7pm sharp. If anyone has any special dietary requirements please contact Chef Faisal ASAP.
Last week Captain Alan Knox held his final official function as Club Captain. The Past Captain's Dinner, to which all past captains are invited, was held on a crisp afternoon. Golf was optional before the dinner, but four brave souls, including Captain Alan, ventured out for 9 holes (pictured here). The remaining Past Captains joined Mr Rice, Samuel and Cameron for dinner.
Our 2016 Senior Captain, Chris Robertson, has posted the list for those wishing to be part of the team for this season in the locker room. Please add your name to the list at your earliest opportunity.
