Over the last few weeks, the greenstaff have been very busy in and around the course. Work has begun on clearing the areas around both the 9th & 12th teeing areas. These have been highlighted over the last twelve months as areas for improvement due to lack of natural light and failing drainage. You will now see around the back of nine that there has been huge areas cleared and light will now be able to flow in to give use to the whole tee's footprint (as pictured here). At the 12th's white and yellow tees, the trees around the whole tee are being cleared and over the next few weeks we plan to raise the tee to help the drainage and ensure a firm, slightly higher, surface area to tee up from.
At the same time the team have been busy laying 720 linear metres of cable for BT. This begins at the car park right through the course to the mast which is located adjacent to the right hand side of 16th fairway. Whilst we are doing this we have also renewed some of our own drainage lines alongside the bunkers on the left hand side of the 18th. As you can see from pictures above, it has been a tough, muddy job.
We are hopefully going to see some cold and frosty weather over the next few days which will help the staff get around the course and also look at the trees down the right of 13.
Our AGM takes place on Wednesday, 20 January where we will see our new Captain introduced to the membership. Please go along and support your club.

This week I made my competitive debut for the 2016 season, heading down to Kilmarnock Barassie to play the January Ayrshire Alliance. The course was extremely soggy with puddles everywhere. This winter has seen lots of rain but I found the greens and teeing areas in excellent condition. Although I was a bit rusty I managed to get it round in +2 with a nice birdie at the last. Next week I am heading off to Glasgow Gailes to play in a Scottish PGA winter fourball event.
